Birdie Weather Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
In short: Birdie Weather has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your courses, clubs and rounds stay on your devices (and in your own iCloud, if you turn on sync). We don't run any servers and we never see or sell your data.
This policy explains what information Birdie Weather (the iPhone app, its widgets, and its Apple Watch app, together "the app") uses and why. The app is published by Cameron Brenneise ("we", "us").
Information stored on your device
To work, the app saves the following on your iPhone and Apple Watch:
- Golf courses you save: name, map location, and the course elevation measured by your iPhone.
- Your club carry distances.
- Rounds you log: date, course, score, weather conditions, and any notes you add.
- Your settings, such as units, theme and alert preferences.
This information never leaves your devices unless you turn on iCloud sync (see below). Deleting the app deletes this information from that device.
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your location only while it is open, to measure the distance and direction to a target you pick on the map and your elevation on the course. Your location is processed on your device. It is not sent to us, not stored as a history, and not shared. The only thing saved is the measured elevation of a course you have saved. You can turn location access off at any time in the iPhone Settings app; the rest of the app still works.
Weather forecasts (Apple WeatherKit)
To get forecasts, the app sends the map location of your selected course (not your personal location) to Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple's handling of these requests is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
Course search and time zones (Apple Maps)
When you search for a course, your search text and the map area you are looking at are sent to Apple Maps to find results. To show forecast times in a course's local time, the app also sends the map location of the course (not your personal location) to Apple Maps to look up its time zone. This is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
iCloud sync
If iCloud sync is on (you can turn it off in the app's Settings), your saved courses, club distances and round history are stored in your own iCloud account so they match across your devices. This data is stored and protected by Apple. We cannot access it.
Birdie Weather Pro subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, email, payment details or Apple Account information. The app only checks with Apple whether your subscription is active. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
Notifications, widgets, Live Activities and Apple Watch
Alerts (such as ideal conditions and storm warnings) are scheduled on your iPhone. Widgets, Live Activities and the Apple Watch app get their information directly from the app on your own devices. None of this passes through our servers.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account or ask for your name or email.
- We don't use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking tools.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't sell, rent or share your information.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
